Lapland 2021

Hi

We are thinking of booking Lapland for 2021 for our kids, who will be 10 & 6. Been told it is amazing and thought we would try and fit it in while they still believe as our oldest is starting to question now.

Never been before so looking for advice. Ideally we would book a package 3/4 nights that includes activities and visit to Santa etc.

We have seen Canterbury Travel who have packages which seem to have OK reviews and we have seen the TUI Snowy Wilderness Lodge ‘Santaclusive’ package, however appears that you would have to book extras?

Is it better 3 or 4 nights?

What things are usually included in the price?

Can you book extras and if so which are worth it?

Any other useful tips?

Any advice or recommendations would be welcome.

TIA.

Following as I'd love to go. I have priced it all up individually though as you can go for longer for less money. I'm thinking of May have term now given school term dates don't fit well for a longer visit (October half term still no snow and not a full week available before Christmas) so it will be summer and we can see the midnight sun as it's light all day and night at that time of year. Santa works year round so we will still get to see him and the elves :)

And Feb half term may still be risky from a Covid point of view

We were thinking for Dec 2021 over a weekend and asking school if we can take them out for a day or so, as we have never taken them out of school for anything before.

Our school won't grant days off :( my children will be almost 10 and 5.5. Have you thought about booking it all separately rather than via a tour operator? There's the obvious lack of Atol protection but it is much cheaper (and you get to go on the overnight Santa express train)

We went with Inghams albeit several years ago now, 4 nights, staying at Ylläs in their log cabins which all have saunas. I'd highly recommend. We did the obvious Santa visit, husky shedding, snowmobiling, visit to Sami and reindeer village and fitted in some skiing too. One of our best holidays.

I went with Tui last year - had to take dd out of school bit had never done it before and will ever do it again. Stayed half board - everything included except snowmobile, husky or reindeer ride (you get a sample to decide if you want to book the full one) but that was about £100 extra per person. Stayed at Lapland Hotel saaga. Was fantastic.

I’d like to jump on this thread - belatedly! I’m also planning a Lapland trip for December 2021 and think I’ve hit on the right one but it’s with Rediscover the World. They seem to be fully ATOL protected but I can’t find many reviews of people who have booked with them. We usually do DIY holidays so it’s a good while since we’ve used a travel agent. Does anyone have experience of these guys?

Shieldingending · 04/01/2021 09:14

We went with Santa’s Lapland, pricey but great ! Well worth it in my opinion

OhioOhioOhio · 04/01/2021 09:15

How much, roughly, does it cost?

clouisemarie · 04/01/2021 11:27

Well, OhioOhioOhio, the best price I’ve got is £6400 - that’s 4 nights full-board, activities incl. reindeers, huskies and snowmobiles and flights. There’ll be 4 of us but my oldest will be classed as an adult so I think we’re paying for 3 adults and 1 child. It’s certainly pricey but seems to be the best package for us and cheaper than other agents - which is why I was wondering if anyone else had booked with them!

Wow. That is a lot. But what a wonderful experience. I'd be the opposite. One child and three adults. I'll go and look. Can't see finding the money this year though.
