First abroad holiday with toddler

Thinking in advance, want to go abroad for first time in may/June 2022 with an almost 4 year old.

Where would you recommend?

I would like
Nice beach
Not too in your face but enough going on for a 4 year old to be entertained
Warm but not unbearable heat
Not to travel for hours on a plane ( longest I've done is 5 hours)
Anything else I need to consider?

At nearly 4 they won’t be a toddler anymore. Are you planning on a beach/pool holiday? A hotel with a park or a cool indoor play area can be a good idea.

Martinhal Sagres in Portugal. Couldn’t fault it with my three year old.

I’d consider the food aspect. If they are great eaters no problem but if they are fussy and likely to live off chips and bread for a week, I’d consider getting an apartment rather than a hotel just so you can make sure they eat!

I’d also look at things like whether there is a kids pool. I can’t remember what they are called but DD had a body float vest thing we’d put on her as she was prone to jumping into deep ends without arm bands!

Splashworlds are really good.

Depends on your budget but we’ve always chosen Spain. Cheap and cheerful, find a hotel with a kids club and some slides etc by the pool and kids will be entertained all week. Benalmadena has one with a good water park but i cant remember the name. Was only around £500 for two of us for a week.

Menorca, we went with an 18month old. We loved it!

Majorca is always good. Very family friendly and only about 2 and a half hour flight.

Majorca is perfect for toddlers/kids. The flight is only 2 hours, the climate in May/June is perfect (not scorching but stil very warm) and lots of family themed resorts. Menorca/Ibiza are also very good too. All inclusive tends to be better for us than self catering so we/DS can pick and try lots of food and the food is just there ready when we are hungry.
