Oh dear , I hope they're offering some kind of compensation for that - the free pool was half the attraction for us!

As it happens though, we ended up spending at the fair because there were always queues for the pool, it was obviously busy then when you got in and I seem to remember it being a bit tacky (certainly the changing rooms). The fair seems even bigger than it looked online and the rides are not cheap and nasty, they're the type you'd expect to find at a park you'd paid a fortune to go in - there's loads to do, I think we went there everyday and the kids never tired of the rides.

I seem to remember we ate at the outdoor kebab kiosk (by the playground) at the fair a few times because it was good value. In the evenings, we went to the self-service buffet a few times. It wasn't particularly cheap but there was lots of choice and a kids section too. It didn't have a particularly good atmosphere though, almost school canteen-like in some ways - there were a few nights which were chaotic (probably clashed with a party at the hostel/camping trip) and the noise level is bad because the floors are wooden and every footstep and chair scrape is amplified! We still went back several times though so it obviously didn't put us off!

Go-kart hire was another attraction for the kids but the queues were really bad and they were often late opening. If you're interested, I'd suggest queuing on your first day (although I can't guarantee that would get you one of course!) and don't take the whole family if you have young kids who don't like waiting - send hubby and the older ones.

Have a great time, I'm sure you will.

thanks for that! They';ve offered us £25 off (only cost £140 anyway!) and free use of the local pool in Wassenaar. We were hoping the fair wouldbe good as the kids eem more excited about that to be honest! Have now packed bikes etc so should be ok. Fingers crossed!!
