We should be leaving Boston today after a weekend exploring, travelling up the coast to tour New England. Bah.

I have the holiday itch. Next on our list was Vancouver Island, and am thinking that Canada MIGHT be a better bet than USA to re-book for next year.

Give me your fabulous recommendations, please ... we are thinking maybe Calgary - Banff - Jasper - Kamloops - Vancouver, then a weed on Vancouver Island and some wildlife stuff (maybe including a few days kayaking tour).

Kelowna lovely too, big wine region. Great to go around all the vineyards

Second Kelowna/The Okanagan region for wineries and beautiful lakes to swim in. Check out Tofino, amazing little coastal town on the island. You can try surfing if it's your thing!

I've done the Rockies a few times, it's absolutly my favourite place ever!!

I love Calgary and Vancouver, both great cities, but very different. The last time we flew into Vancouver, spent a few days there, drove up to Whistler, I'm sure the sea to sky highway is gorgeous, but it was chucking it down the day we did it.

Other places we stopped were emerald lake, lake Louise, moraine lake, malign lake, but lake peto and emerald lake were our favourites as it was deserted and we could paddle in them. Banff is great, but it's very expensive to stay, we stayed in Canmore which is nowhere near as nice, but a ton cheaper! I've been up in a helicopter from canmore, it was awesome!!

The Athabasca glacier is amazing, but a bit pricey. I did that on a previous trip, same as snowboarding in Fernie. That was amazing, such a beautiful little village!!

Jasper is nice too. If you are into dinosaurs then Drumheller has a great museum, it's about 90 min the other side of Calgary though.

On a separate trip I spent quite a few days on Vancouver island. The sooke potholes are lovley, as is the wiffin spit beach. Victoria is pretty too.

We did an absolutely fantastic cycle trip through the Okanagan Valley - two days, staying at a lodge half way down. I’d definitely recommend that. We started in Vancouver and drove to Calgary, as we have family there we were staying with at the end of our trip. We broke the journey one night in Sunshine to have two shorter driving days but if we went again I’d do a longer day’s drive and stay an extra day somewhere else - it wasn’t a great place to stop for us.

Right, have booked flights for September 2021, got to have something to look forward to!

Have ended up with flights in and out of Vancouver, as Calgary not good for Avios bookings but that's fine, will still probably to a Banff and Jasper circuit before going to V. Island.

Will look at all your tips and any others that come to plan.
