What sort of thing are you looking for?

What have you discounted so far?

FrayedKnot · 10/10/2007 21:33

A friend of mine used to go to Morston hall near Blakeney with her DH for special occasions

Or what about the Victoria at Holkham? (never been but I think otehr Mners have and may be able to recommend or not)

curlydolly · 10/10/2007 21:35

ok I think I need to be a bit more specific! Looking at country house style but don't want anything stuffy. Good food and large rooms, maybe with spa but thats not essential. Would quite like something a bit different with more of a personal touch.

The Crown and Castle at Orford in Suffolk is fantastic - gorgeous rooms, and wonderful wonderful food....

There is a website - can't do links though so you'll have to google it!

FrayedKnot · 10/10/2007 21:48

The C & C is Ruth Watson's hotel isn;t it?

MakemineaGandT · 10/10/2007 21:51

yes it is

Thanks everyone for suggestions. They all look lovely. Just one slight problem we were thinking of going in January but that seems to be the time when hotels close so we may rethink and go in Feb. I am a hotel inspector fan so would be really interested in what she has done at the C&C.

We are going here for my 40th in January.

mrsflowerpot · 11/10/2007 14:07

we went here for our wedding anniversary once and it was lovely. Or the Hoste Arms in Burnham Market is fab too.

Try Alastair Sawday www.sawdays.co.uk for lots of lovely places too.

mrsflowerpot · 11/10/2007 14:08

the C&C was reviewed in one of the Sundays recently - they were less impressed than they might have been given who it belongs to.

I'll see if I can find it.

MaryAnnSingletomb · 11/10/2007 14:09

ooh I was going to say the Crown and Castle too - never been but friends have stayed there - I do like Ruth Watson !

MaryAnnSingletomb · 11/10/2007 14:10
