Anyone been to the Caribbean recently?

Newly joined member here! I am interested to know if any of you have just returned from Dominican Republic, Barbados etc recently?
Was it enjoyable? Were there lots of rules, masks? I am trying to decide if the pre-travel Covid test costs and all the extra hassle involved is worth it!

Just back from Antigua yesterday.

Worth. Every. Single. Penny!

On resort masks were not required, but the staff did have to wear them.

The Islanders were super friendly and so grateful for tourists. IMO this is absolutely the best time to go. No crowds, hence having the tourist attractions to yourself and I mean literally it was just my DH and I at all of them! Makes for amazing photo's.

If you can go, do it, highly recommend Antigua as no quarantine required on return and once you are there it's almost as if covid has never happened.

BA were FANTASTIC and very low flight occupancy meant amazing deals on flights. We flew business both ways as the prices are dirt cheap at the moment.

I would go again tomorrow in a heartbeat and I repeat the locals are the friendliest we have ever encountered in all of the Caribbean.

I also meant to say that their airport proceedures were the gold standard IMO. So well organised.

We arrived at the airport at 13:30. In my hotel room by 14:15, on the beach with a cocktail at 14:30! :)

Honestly, it was absolutely brilliant! Just what I needed too as I had been caring for our disabled DS 24/7 for almost 7 months without respite available.

I was at the very end of an increasingly thin rope!

I also meant to add, BA were excellent and I was really impressed with them. The staff seemed so grateful we were flying and we got some of the best service we have ever had.

The weather is spectacular at the moment and although we were only there for 8 days I look like I have been dipped in gravy browning! Even the locals were saying how hot it was, but not unbearably so and the nights were divine.

If you book through them they are also offering discounted private covid tests now which are a fair bit cheaper than the ones we paid for.

Thanks Leelu, sounds like you had a lovely time! We are a bit torn as to which island to got to at the moment but I will contact you if I have any q's.
Also, thinking of booking only about a week before so have plenty of time - thinking end of November.
I am imagining those lovely beaches and sea......!!
