We stayed at the Alex earlier this year on recommendations from threads on here. I would highly recommend it but it's not cheap.

We stayed in a very nice, but not posh, business type hotel for our honeymoon 11 years ago. It was very near to Macey's so central. But to my disgrace I cannot recall what it was called .
I'll ask dh when he gets in and let you know.
Am seriously jealous, I am longing to go back.

novotel times square is fine in a chain sort of way. has everything you need and can't get more central that really.

I have stayed really budget which was awful and then in the millenium hilton by the world trade centre which was lovely but is obviously now surrounded by construction so wouldn't recommend, then stayed in the Plaza but that isnt a hotel anymore. Husband stayed in novotel and i recently looked it up for a friend. very reasonably priced. check it out x

We stayed in the roosevelt hotel in June, very nice, central location (close to Times Square, 5th Ave etc) and quite reasonable

It was The Metro.

The Algonquin. It's about 5 mins from Times Square, really comfy rooms and hotel staff are very friendly
