Oct 2008 - please inspire me!

There will be 6 of us -dd aged 15, dd aged 12, ds1 aged 9 & ds2 who will be 4. We;ve done Spain & The Canaries a few times & went to Tunisia last year. Quite fancy Sharm El Sheikh (sp?) but am not sure whether this will be too daring for us. Also quite fancy Turkey but not sure of the weather in October or Cyprus? Opinions needed please!

Sharm is lovely Kath & very child friendly esp if your kids like swimming/snorkelling. Some hotels are better than others so shop arounf but there are some great deals including flights. Never made it myself but my sis is an expat in Cairo & they go down quite often.

I looked into this time recently for my honeymoon, we are going to the Maldives so maybe not ideal for you but places we considered -

Cyprus (it is nice in October)
Gran Canaria
Dubai
Oman
Thailand
Egypt
Kenya
Gambia

Thanks both - I do quite fancy Sharm El Sheikh it's just that we're so used to Spain I don't know whether it'll be too much of a shock to the system!

TBH, Kath, if Spain works for you all -go for it!!

There's a lot to be said for "tried & tested" when you've a wide age-range like you've got. Plenty of time for more adventurous stuff later when the young 'uns are bigger.

The weather in Cyprus is lovely at the moment- 28-30 degrees although there is some rain at times!! We spent yesterday on Curium beach near Limmosol- a lovely child friendly beach, gently sloping and not too many stones.

it's so easy, and the weather is fantastic in October. Service is fantastic. Clean beaches. Amazing sea full of amazing fish, the kids love it just for that. Buy some snorkelling kit and they will love it. All ages.

Really easy transfer from airport (big, new and clean) to the hotels.
