My husband, daughter and i have just returned from an amazing week touring the highlands of Scotland & Skye in a campervan called a Bongo!

I found a fantastic company on the internet called Campers Scotland they were really cheap and the vans are great. The seats folded down in the back to make a double bed and our Daughter Molly slept up the top in the pop-up roof (she thought this was very cool!). We had an awning, fridge, WC, cooker, pots and pans and we even hired a dvd player, which was great for Molly on the long journeys.

Apart from being really good value, Gary (Campers Scotland) has a very good knowledge of Scotland and gets really excited about your trip too! We spent a good hour there before we left just looking at maps and planning our trip. They also picked us up from the airport - i'd thoroughly recommend them to anyone. Check them out at www.campers-scotland.com

We camped on Loch Tummel for free and the views were amazing. Then a secluded beach near Gairloch again - totally free! Meals on the beach and glorious sunsets.
We had one night at a campsite in Applecross (£20) - we needed showers by then!

Next we drove over to Skye and again camped for free on amazing beaches with white sand and blue seas.

I'd thoroughly recommend doing the boat trip round Loch Coruisk from Elgol on the Bella Jane www.bellajane.co.uk We saw so many seals and it was a really fun day out.

It was an amazing trip and it cost us very little. The campervan was only £385, petrol about £80, then it was just trips and food.

We've booked for a week April already!

WOw that sounds a fantastic trip. How many people could you comfortably sleep in the van?

Sounds like my perfect holiday Ellie! We have friends that have a farm near Glen Coe, in the Highlands and it is my very favouritist place in the world! There's nothing better than a camp fire on the beach. Mull is a beautiful Island, if you fancy another Island trip. Perfect if your lo's are into Balamory! Tobermory is exactly as it is on the TV!

You could sleep 2 in the roof, 2 in the body of the van and the awning has a detachable room that could sleep 2. I can't recommend them enough. If i had the cash i'd buy one! No, not me in the photos - that's the owners wife.

I went camping in Scotland in April once. We woke up with SNOW on the tent one morning after shivering all night.
I made my way asap to the nearest b&b and sat in front of the fire all evening and demanded a hot water bottle.
