I'm after;

Next summer holiday.
2 adults 4 children. Ages between 8 - 14.
Mediterranean
Not a resort
Self contained accommodation

Its for myself, DP and our children. What's become more apparent over the last few years are the kids need their own space and activities. I have been looking at AI in Turkey with 2 x separate accommodation as this would provide them all with something to do and DP and I won't be left with bickering after a couple of days. Plus, it'll be a rest for us.

Does a place exist with nice accommodation, enough kids but space enough to feel I'm not on top of everyone?

Also, not Portugal. I LOVE Portugal but 4 kids and that cold and quite rough sea does not make for a relaxing trip to the beach.

Turkey would def be cheapest as you are going to need 2 separate but adjoining rooms. Antalya has some amazing hotels and loads of stuff for kids/teens to do:

Peligoni club in Greece
Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus

Not been to either personally but they jumped to mind as they are “resorts” with activities and central restaurant(s) but with self contained apartments or villas rather than a big hotel.

I have been to Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus and it's lovely - some of the villas are amazing - but many of them are a long way from the central part of the resort and each villa/villa complex has it's own pool. If you got an apartment or two apartments in the main village bit I think it would suit you, but I wouldn't rent one of the far flung villas up the hill or it will literally be the six of you and a very long walk down to the resort. There is a beach club, but it is a drive away - maybe 20 mins? Something like that. Also, I'm not sure about activities.

Personally, with DC that age, I'd look at a large hotel complex with activities on site. I don't know Turkey, but I have a friend who swears by the hotels with water parks on site.
