My DD is 4 months old and HATES going in the car. I don't mean general crying, I mean full hysterics, choking and nearly vomiting today! She crys her self into such a state its quite frightening. Today on the motorway I had to pull over, when she cried so hard she could harldy breathe.. phoned my Mum who came and travelled home with us with DS on her knee! (I know... not safe.. but I had no choice.. I thought she was going to have a fit).. as soon as she's out of seat, happy, smiling!! This happens every time shes in the car.. school runs.. shop runs.. everything.. Im cannot avoid travelling with her! Nothing works, music, toys (shes too young)... shes a BF baby, happy, no colic, ive tried feeding her, not feeding her.. nothing works.. im at my wits end.. SORRY this is so rambling... we need HELP!

Get her ears checked out. It could be that she feels unduly sick/dizzy when travelling. She may have an imbalance in the inner ear drum.

It certainly needs checking out. She does seem unduly stressed by it all, poor little thing.

Thanks Desiderata, I will, and not it may not make a difference, but its the first thing HV asks, so I thought I would give as much info as poss. Thanks again, I didnt think of that.

Not in any way as extreme, but ds hated the car until he was in a front facing seat. I think it was not being able to see anyone that freaked him out.

Obv your a good few months away from being able to use a front facing seat but I think you can get a mirror that you could position so that she could see you/you could see her? I never tried this but it might be worth a go.

Thanks Spook, shes in the front with me and can see me, Ive tried mirror toys.. its just a total freak out thing with her. I have 6 yr old DS and 4 yr old DS, and they were great in car seats, slept most of the time... Ahhh.. the good old days!!!! diving into a much needed glass of wine!
