Solo holiday for the newly single

As a 60 year old newly single woman I'm thinking about holidays next year (hopefully). I have no wish to go on a 'singles' holiday - I have absolutely zero interest in finding a new partner. I'd like to go abroad, somewhere interesting, maybe a tour, not a beach holiday.

Any advice on dos and don'ts? Places/companies to look at? I'm happy with my own company but would like some company at meal times etc. Give me the benefit of your experience!

If you are reasonably fit then have a look at Intrepid Travel. I am desperately waiting for my kids to be a bit older so we can go on some of their trips. Mix of solo travellers, couples and families but all in small groups.

The Jordan trip looks fabulous.

Trailfinders also work with a number of small group companies (Intrepid being one of them) and could be a good starting point.

Some cruise lines cater for singles.
I would look at something with a few organised trips etc.
We hired a tour guide in Israel for two days it was fantastic.

Try Exodus as well as Intrepid - interesting destinations and itineraries and according to their blurb, 50% of their customers are solo travellers.

Thanks everyone. I've had a look at the ones you've all recommended and now I just need this virus to do one and I'll be packing (not sure where to but I'll be off somewhere).

I think the thing I'll miss about going on my own is sharing the experiences with someone but maybe there'll be enough people on this kind of trip travelling by themselves for that not to matter.

I've heard good reviews about this place. www.singlesincrete.com/
I'm married but DH doesn't like travelling as much as I do so I'm considering for myself.

I second Intrepid, I did a trip to Vietnam with them and it was the best holiday I ever had. There were interesting people of all ages in my group and we all got along really well. Half the group were solo travellers so that's nothing to worry about.

Just like Sakura I did Vietnam with a friend, great mix of people and really well organised. The food for one thing was amazing.
