I am due an op on 10 Sept and I've been told I have to quarantine 14 days prior. I am very scared of what they will find and want to take my mind off it. My children have had one night away with their Dad a couple of days ago (he's so skint it's all he could afford) and I feel sad that they have been cooped up for weeks whilst I've worked from home etc. I was going to take them to see my Mum on the train and it was £150 !!! So started thinking I'll go away - properly if it's going to be that much.
My friend is out in Majorca - I took the kids last year and we had a great time. So I thought fuck it. I'm going to be quarantining anyhow why don't I take them. Booked flights and now I've got the fear as wondering if I'll be asked what the essential travel I'm on is etc. I mean my well-being is at a super low but that won't count. I've seen to get insurance from Battleforce.
What do you think?

I think you’d be mad. And what about school when your kids return?

IronNeonClasp · 15/08/2020 12:20

Kids are back mid week. I don't think a few days are going to infringe on 4 months realistically are they?

I also think you're mad. Sorry.

I thought Majorca was now on the no travel list and hotels/restaurants were closing again?

Bellossom · 15/08/2020 12:43

I think it's a really bad idea. Are you not even a little worried about increasing your risk and missing the operation.
I'm surprised if you'd be able to travel there with no reason.

I don't think the OP is up to date with current Foreign Office advice

Majorca

They won't ask you anything, the FCO advice is simply that, it's advice and not the law.

FWIW I'm in Tenerife now, been here since the 24th July and it's lovely. My children are having an excellent time. It's safer here in my opinion, far safer than London. Everyone is complying with the rules and being courteous.

Enjoy your holiday.
