Holidays abroad - anyone booking?

Very tempted to book Turkey for this month. Wondered other people’s thoughts/experiences of travelling abroad?

To be fair to @Bearbehind, your posts have been rather schizophrenic- perhaps you are rather hard to keep up with Friends?

At the beginning of this thread:

“ Nope, no way not this year.”

But by yesterday you were hoping to go on your anniversary trip to Italy in 2 months. The same Italy you are now giving stark warnings about visiting.

The reality is by any travel - whether that’s a jaunt to Cornwall or Rome, you are increasing the risk of spreading the virus. Certainly with non domestic travel there is greater data gathering.

Another PP suggested you remove yourself from Travel threads as your sole purpose seems to glorify in being really rather self righteous. I’d suggest you do exactly the same.

We can't put our lives on hold forever though. Just saying.

Gets cases down from loft to start packing for Turkey

Bearbehind · 26/08/2020 11:06

If you are travelling have the guts to acknowledge you ARE helping to spread the virus, and many more people will die because of it.

So how do you reconcile that with your post yesterday saying you are hoping to go to Italy in a October? 🤔

notimagain · 26/08/2020 12:47

But don't lie to yourself that planes are 'safe', that the growing infection rate is not really happening, and you would be cool with being seriously ill in rural Puglia, because I will call you out on the lies you tell yourself.

Friendsoftheearth - Given your complete lack of contrition, apology or comment from your good self over the complete fiction you posted upthread about flights to Portugal I don't think you are in a position to call anybody else out about the accuracy of their posts....

SJaneS48 · 26/08/2020 13:33

Just re read this thread through and unless there are (highly unlikely) two people using the handle Friendsoftheearth, @notimagain & @Bearbehind, the non existent Portugal flights that do actually exist aren’t the only complete porkies Friends is telling here. Take a look at the attached.

Yesterday she had an upcoming holiday to Florence in October booked a long time ago - but according to this earlier post, she also has holidays in October booked for Copenhagen (which on the 19th is her only hope for a holiday!) & The Netherlands. Not only this but they’ve got a holiday booked in Tenerife in December - quite obviously booked after the start of Coronavirus concerns as they booked it as it was a ‘safer’ option.

This just goes on! After the whole load of self righteous diatribe about the ‘greater good’, ‘certainly not going anywhere’, death numbers and entitlement that Friends has written about, the reason they cancelled France this month is not because they felt it was morally irresponsible, it was because a 2 weeks quarantine was unfeasible!

You couldn’t make this stuff up! Well, someone obviously has - but for what downright weird purpose??!!

Odd is an understatement!

Odd is an understatement!

Very true!

Why anyone would post in such a sanctimonious manner, which is what gets them noticed in the first place, then totally contradict themselves is entirely beyond me

There definitely can’t be 2 people with the same name as MN doesn’t allow that

Said person also told me off for swearing and then proceeded to swear at people too! 😂

Their mantra is clearly ‘do as I say, not as I do’ in all aspects of life!

BringMeTea · 26/08/2020 14:42

Time to ignore the said poster eh? No oxygen will see them off. As 'twere. Anyway, has anybody booked anything? Grin

SJaneS48 · 26/08/2020 15:42

:-) sounds wise!

And yes, have gone for a European option rather than the Stateside (California) one we’d planned on as at point of booking, DH had concerns. So it’s Croatia/Bosnia/Montenegro hopefully. Had fun window shopping hotels again (sad to say, I enjoy that kind of thing!) and all hotels are booked on a free cancellation to last minute/pay on the day option.

Bearbehind · 26/08/2020 17:27

We got some time booked off work and I’ve got my eye on several options but I’m waiting to see what happens nearer the time as it’s all just so uncertain at the moment

BringMeTea · 26/08/2020 17:55

Sounds good! We are also holding out until very last minute as want to go to a Greek island and they might be next on quarantine. Fingers crossed for everyone. We were just about to book Croatia when they went on it so it was lucky we didn't. I know we would be refunded but glad to avoid the process if possible.

SJaneS48 · 26/08/2020 19:16

It’s all a bit roll of the dice at the moment isn’t it? Our trip is next summer & am hoping things will have stabilised by then - not 100% believing though that 2021 isn’t going to be more of the same.
