Bah

Mumsnet sucks me back in temporarily for any recommendations for days out for my two animal obsessed kids. We have done most of the places in Dorset/Somerset, but anywhere in the South would be considered.

quite frankly enid (lovely to see you back btw ) log them in on here in an evening and you'll get your full complement of hackles rising, teeth baring, herd mentality etc. It's fairly beastly at the mo

my sister has a copy of the good zoo guide book, is bringing it round this weekend i will post if anything interesting as there are surprisingly large numbers of small zoos around. i found one near cambridge last weekend.

Hi Enid

Did anyone say Cotswold Wildlife Park? (Does that count as S?)

It says the children's zoo is closed due to F&M though - will this apply to any other places around there?

Marwell Zoo is lovely

WendyWeber · 03/10/2007 11:32

(Children's farmyard, not zoo, sorry - they must have cows and things in there)

ahundredtimes · 03/10/2007 11:34

Oh yes, you can avoid the monkeys at Longleat, and just see the other animals.

Have you been to Living Coast in Torquay? That's good, top cafe too.

ENID!!!!! lovely to see you!

Places we like;

Bristol Zoo
West Midland Safari Park
Cotswold Farm Park (my personal favourite, is just LOVELY)
Noah's Ark in Wraxall (very fundamentalist Christian set up, but lots of animals - larger zoo animals etc, bit unsure of what I think of it, but certainly fills the brief of 'animals')
Slimbridge

QueenofBleach · 03/10/2007 12:42

When you drive through the Safari park instead of going through the monkey enclosure you have the option to turn right and avoid. FWIW toatllay agree with you about Monkey World.

I second Port Lympne in Kent.

Also Rare Breeds, in between Tenterden and Ashford.
