Best afternoon tea!

DH is a massive fan of afternoon tea and it is his birthday soon so I'm thinking of doing a night away in a hotel + afternoon tea.

I've looked at The Ritz, but very mixed reviews.

Any experiences/suggestions?

Budget of around £800ish

Thanks

The Dorchester is lovely. The Ritz is a bit like a cattle market where you sit. I haven’t been but this was what came of my research as it was on my wish list. I’d also look at Claridges.

Also we’ve enjoyed the above and The Mandarin Oriental , Savoy , Lanesborough , Langham , The Wolseley , Fortnum and Mason , The Berkeley

I'd second the Dorchester. Gorgeous food and the staff are lovely and friendly. (Make sure you get one of the sofas against the wall; they're the nicest)

The savoy. One of the best ones we've been too. Generous in everything- manners, accommodating DHs dietary needs, portions. We love, loved it.

Does it have to be in London? Because for around £800 (probably with change) you could do afternoon tea, 8 course tasting menu & B&B at Morston Hall in North Norfolk which is divine. It’s right next to Morston Quay for absolutely beautiful sunset walks as well.

I’ve been so many times and it’s always amazing.

It’s not at a hotel, but The Potion Room in London is amazing!

Chewton Glen.

Absolutely lovely.

Does it have to be London

If it doesn't have to be in London, have a look at The Angel in Abergavenny.

The Dorchester is closed until September

The Ritz is great! The food is absolutely delicious and the setting is iconic.

Hadn't even considered The Dorchester but I definitely will now a couple of people have mentioned it. It isn't needed until mid October so it'd be perfect.

As for the North Norfolk suggestion that would also work as I have a house in Suffolk that I often go down to so I know the area well.

Never heard of the potion room... sounds intriguing!
