How long do you recommend staying in the Isle of Wight for?

We were supposed to be going to Majorca later on this month, but it's looking very unlikely at this point so trying to make a 'back up' holiday plan in the UK. We were thinking maybe taking the kids (5 & 3) to the Isle of Wight. Do you think we would need a whole week there or is a 3-4 night break enough do you think?

A week! I love it there! loads to see and do.

Though you sound very unenthusiastic about going?

We've had several week long family holidays there
There is loads to do.

Is there much accommodation left? I thought most places were sold out.

Forever?

Thank you. I am enthusiastic about going but we can't book anything until we get formal confirmation that our holiday to Majorca is cancelled (which probably won't be until next week). Plus we have to work around mine and DH's work schedule's which is tricky, and not even sure there is going to be any availability left by next week. My summer plans have all been thrown out. Lol! But good to know that we should aim for a week if we can get it! Smile

ah well I hope you get away somewhere! Ventnor is my favourite but it's so small nowhere is far away!

I agree you can do a week.
There are loads of beaches from sand as far as the eye can see to interesting rock pool ones. Lots of little villages with something to visit, and some big attractions like Blackgang, Osbourne House and Carisbrook.
It’s not the same since the Brading Wax work museum closed though....

i'd catch the ferry there and then come straight back. the crossing is the best bit. dont know if we have been unlucky but never got on with it that well - its a bit like the mainland was 30 years ago - old fashioned but not in a good way.

personally I was gutted when the waltzing waters shut...They were superb!
