Any tips for Palma?

Just changed our holiday in 3 weeks to Palma from Barcelona and now having to replan restaurants and activities. We’re staying at the Innside Palma Bosque Hotel.

Any suggestions? We’re not really into Michelin style food, more relaxed atmospheres on the beach or somewhere with a view with plain food for DP.

Also has anyone hired a boat from Palma before? We’re looking for one of the small ones you don’t need a licence for but can only find them in other places across the island rather than anywhere actually nearby.

We ate at a lovely tapas type restaurant there, very relaxed but in the shopping area so no sea view. Amazing food; do you want me to try to look it up or is it not for you?

Take the train up to Soller in the mountains for a lovely day out. Great views, and great pastries up at the top - and lovely and cool, on the hottest of days.

Lots of people then take the tram down to Puerto Soller for a swim

Not a food recommendation but can highly recommend a trip on the vintage train to Soller. Fantastic views on the way and a lovely little village at the end. Another 5-10 mins in a tram (you can get combined tickets) takes you down to the beach/marina of Port Soller where there are plenty of lovely bars and restaurants all along the front.

Some great ideas here! I was considering the train to Soller but will definitely add it to our itinerary now, love the idea of getting the tram down to the marina as well

Keep your hand tightly on your purse anywhere near the cathedral, and especially at the bus stops.

I love Palma! I can't recommend anywhere specific but we spent a wonderful few days there's a couple of years ago.

If you are into massage/spas the Purobeach Palma has one of the prettiest settings ever - built out into the sea.

If you google "Things to do in Palma" the tripadvisor page has loads of links for boat hire/sailing experiences.

V. jealous. I love Mallorca. Palma is more laid back than Barcelona, and a lovely little city. If you want to go off exploring, you could hire a car for the day and see if the Campanet Caves are open - well off the tourist track so less crowded than the popular Caves of Drach - you take in the Monastery at Luc too, or go onto the beach at Pollensa/explore Cap Formentor, all half an hour to an hour away from Palma, even though they are the far side of the island.

With kids or without kids? If the latter there's a bar called Abaco that everyone should go to for one drink, just for the experience. I believe The Time once called it the best bar in the world. The drinks are expensive and the waiters are surly but that's half the fun :)

@HowFastIsTooFast without kids. I saw Abaco and it looked so cool! Also noticed cocktails were 16€ so maybe one for a pre-dinner drink one night

We’ve also booked a day at Purobeach so hopefully they’re doing massages by then
