Just wanting a quick poll on what people's thoughts are about going to France with current lockdown relaxations? - Euro tunnel, caravan 2 x hotel stop offs en route with 2 DC's .....All facilities on sites open apparently but gel, masks etc needed. Wondering will it be empty? Hard work and weird to follow rules? What would you do? x

I'm feeling relatively confident that it won't be added to the list - we are travelling on Monday. Just have to hope that nothing changes over the next few weeks.

Yes there does seem to be a bit more chat today about France not going on the list - although I still think it would be quite likely to come in the next week or two.

What time is there usually an announcement? I thought it was around lunchtime..

User27aw · 13/08/2020 14:09

Is there only an announcement once a week? We are going a week on Saturday. We dont know whether to add some days on to the front the holiday and get there before the next annoucement, assuming France isnt put on the list today.

TheNewLook · 13/08/2020 14:12

Why don’t they just make an announcement one way or another? They know there is huge speculation. We’ve just cancelled our holiday because of the uncertainty, I’m sure we’re not the only ones. And it might all be for nothing!

I tweeted the FCO earlier asking if they were planning an announcement and they just put out their generic statement about advice changing at any time and they cant confirm or deny! I'm sure the FCO knows by now if an announcement is coming today.

From what I understand, the relevant government committee meets weekly but I assume if something major happened, they'd act quicker than that.

4700 new cases according to the official Facebook thingy.

NotPennysBoat · 13/08/2020 15:43

What time was last week's announcement, does anyone know? -bites nails-

Oblomov20 · 13/08/2020 15:46

My boss has been there for a week in her second home. She says it's fine.

Which Facebook thingy please?
PMTRex · 13/08/2020 16:21

I've been looking for today's number of new cases in France and can't see anything on the usual official sites or in the news- anyone know?

Wincher · 13/08/2020 16:21

Argh can't believe we have to wait until tomorrow for the decision! We are meant to be going first thing Saturday so I really need to think about what to pack! This is going down to the wire...

The french site is normally updated quite late - after 6pm I think.
meowcatmeow · 13/08/2020 17:06

2669 for France today.

whataboutbob · 13/08/2020 18:07

So not much higher than yesterday then?

PMTRex · 13/08/2020 18:20

@LaChatte

4700 new cases according to the official Facebook thingy.
So that wasn't true then- why cause people unnecessary worry?
Parker231 · 13/08/2020 18:58

From The Times - Any announcement on quarantine would include a 30-hour notice period before restrictions were implemented.

bakingbernie · 13/08/2020 20:32

So not much higher than yesterday then?

Yesterday was double the number of the day before. Today's has stayed at that height AND INCREASED.

I don't think 'not much higher than yesterday' is a very sensible observation!

LaChatte · 13/08/2020 20:38

It's the official Covid thingy on Facebook, hang on I'll try and post a photo.

fartyface · 13/08/2020 20:45

Givebn that y s is is my main source of information can someone update me? (in in France already) it looks like other countries have been removed from list but not France? But another announcement tomorrow.

We want to change our plans here and interestingly a change in fco guidance would suit us now as our planned campsite wyill refund based on that. It was quite expensive so we don't want to lose the money but don't want to go there any more (party because of distance southwards)

LaChatte · 13/08/2020 20:46

On my (french) facebook feed I have an automatic thing come up called "Centre d'information sur le coronavirus (Covid-19)", it shows a graph with daily numbers and today it's showing 4733 new cases for yesterday. On French radio (France Info) yesterday they were talking about 11000 over the past week. I'm not 'scare-mongering' as someone said, I'm just giving updates from the French news side.
