Anyone else now going to France?

Just wanting a quick poll on what people's thoughts are about going to France with current lockdown relaxations? - Euro tunnel, caravan 2 x hotel stop offs en route with 2 DC's .....All facilities on sites open apparently but gel, masks etc needed. Wondering will it be empty? Hard work and weird to follow rules? What would you do? x

The cynic in me was not surprised to read that UK will not quarrantine France as we (ie the wretched government) want cooperation over the migrant issue.

And am sorry, I read that earlier today & did not save the link & my overheated brain can not find a link.

Personally I will be annoyed if there isn’t a quarantine now after I’ve undone all my travel plans. 😤 Sorry, I guess I don’t mean that. Don’t want to spoil others’ holidays. But if they aren’t going to do it, they could have stopped all this speculation.

Well we’ve boarded the Eurotunnel. I’ve never known it so quiet! Good luck everyone. I hope you make it over. It’s not nice being so stressed before a holiday but hopefully it’ll be worth it for us all.

We have accommodation booked and non refundable but we should have gone by Eurostar and TGV but our Eurostar was cancelled and we got a refund from SNCF.

We are waiting to book the tunnel tomorrow to travel on Saturday and then book hotels to break the journey both ways. We are going to Vias Plage which has very few cases and the campsite we are going to is doing all it can to reassure visitors.

I have all the tabs open on my computer and my card on standby for tomorrow morning so long as there isn’t an announcement tonight.

@clara10 it's worth dropping an email to your accommodation. I have a caravan boooking at a campsite which has strict no refunds/cancellations in their t&c's but I have emailed and they have confirmed if the UK Govt changes travel advice before my arrival (23rd Aug) they will give me a voucher.

Radio 4 says announcement is due tomorrow. My cousin is due to come over via Eurostar tomorrow to join us for a holiday in Wales. It’s nail biting.

TOMORROW?!?! Ffs we leave tomorrow. I have a horrible vision of having to turn a packed car round halfway to the ferry.

Desperately hoping we can go to my friends wedding. We managed a trip to Belgium before the restrictions came in for there but I really want to go to France for the wedding. So many of the guests are travelling over from the UK.

@pettyprudence thank you. Should the announcement come out before Saturday I shall speak to the campsite. I really feel for them and I can claim on my insurance.

We're sailing at 10am tomorrow so I'm hopeful that we'll be gone by the time the announcement is made, or that the deadline will be Sat/Sun. I'm still not clear if the FCO no travel announcement takes effect at the same time as the quarantine announcement. Does anyone know?

If this is true then it's not going on the quarantine list just yet.
I'm in France at the moment, due to travel back Sunday, but keeping a close eye as I would leave early if possible if quarantine was announced.

@CrumpetsAndPuzzles in an old article - I'm sorry. The guardian is claiming a decision will be made on "Thursday" today though. Which Thursday isn't clear.

I really feel for all of you due to go imminently-very difficult decision to make to cancel/not to cancel

We're not due to go for another few weeks but are holding off booking the stop over hotels and car insurance for the time being.

Dh is wfh & my boss is happy to accommodate my quarantine if necessary but don't know if I want to be stuck at home for 14 days!

The Daily Fail is reporting France won't be on the list today which solves part of my problem but that the Netherlands will. That's my bigger problem!
