Virgin holidays cancellation experience

I’ve read quite a lot of negative stories about virgin holidays so we were concerned and expecting the worse. We’re supposed to go to Orlando in August - 9 people.

In reality, we were emailed in May asking our preferred option - rebook or refund. We were called last week, talked through options, prices and dates. Told money would be refunded within 120 days (very apologetic but wanting to be realistic re expectations). We chose to rebook for 2021 with a slight increase in cost but not crazy. For us, we’ve found the service good and clear. We got a specific case worker who we were able to communicate with directly without having to speak to lots of different people. I think, in the circumstances, the service has been really good.

We’re still awaiting a refund from a cancelled flight from April. We’re just going to now go through our credit card, is it’s been well over the 120 days now. They completely shot them mark Ed in the foot as we would have happily moved the flights, if they hadn’t wanted an extra £6.000 for them!

Sorry @underneaththeash that’s rubbish. We moved the days and haggled a bit. On the original booking we used my nhs discount but they’ve apparently stopped offering that right now so dh negotiated a discount that was close but still not the full 5% off (for a booking of 3 suites for 9 people 5% was a decent amount off). I’m still not excited as I can’t actually believe it’ll happen next summer but everyone else is super excited so I’m trying not to be a killjoy.

Awful! Still waiting for our refund. I’ve been a big fan of Virgin previously but they’ve dealt with this badly.
