Orlando- Easter or Summer Holidays? Anybody stayed at Disney and Universal?

Which is best do you think? We can do either but I have been told the American schools are back during the last two
Weeks of the English summer holidays so wondering if it is better to go then.

Also, has anybody stayed at Disney and Universal? If so, did you book
It all separately or with a Travel
Agent? Any recommendations of websites/agents to use?

Thank you

It can be both very humid and wet everyday in Orlando during the summer months. Easter is a nice time weather wise but it gets very busy there then too. Also i think it’s their 50th anniversary year at WDW next year.

I would hold off booking accommodation till Mr Trump’s travel ban to the US is actually lifted.

We’ve been both Easter and late August. I preferred going in August as the parks were quieter. Although the weather is far more humid and the rain can be quite epic. We were caught in a rain storm whilst driving. It was terrifying-could hardly see a thing!!

We normally stay in a villa and have a couple of nights at a universal hotel-so we can take advantage of the universal express pass. We book everything separately.

Have you heard of The Dibb? It’s a fantastic website full of really helpful info and links.

Thank you all, I will have a look at The DIBB.

If you go into publicholidays.us/school-holidays it will give you the school holidays/terms. The USA is so vast each state controls its own education terms. For example Spring Break can spread from mid February into May. I also recommend the Dibb for advice and guidance.

We stayed at Disney then transferred to universal the last time we went.

Organised our own Uber transfer.... very easy.

We booked our own flights and accommodation separately with park tickets. All very easy and we just looked for the best deals.

I’ve booked through virgin holidays and through a travel agent. I always recommend Dial A Flight - their service is always good, but I was really impressed by their handling of our cancelled holidays due to coronavirus.

Definitely worth staying at a higher tier universal hotel for the perks.

I went for 2 weeks in August a couple of years ago and the heat and humidity was absolutely unbearable. We stayed in a Disney hotel and it was lovely!

We went 3 years ago, last 2 weeks of August - stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge. The hotel was fabulous. Best bit of the whole trip! Probably wouldn't go again anyway, but it was a quiet time to go and ridiculously humid and thundery

Cakestandkitchen · 01/09/2020 20:08

Yes, we did Disney then jumped into an Uber and transferred to Hard Rock at Univeral.

We booked online with Disney and Universal direct and our flights with BA.

Just a thought (and let’s face it, who really knows!) but just from a pragmatic point of view, the longer you leave the better chance that you’ll be able to go? I’m not 100% sure I’d be confident that we’d actually be able to go in April next year and I’d hate to disappoint the kids if we couldn’t.

BaconAndAvocado · 09/10/2020 21:05

We were supposed to be going to Florida this August just gone.

Considered booking for next year but, after much soul searching, have decided to wait until 2022.

There are too many uncertainties about next year and too many compromises - no free dining, no fastpasses, no park hopping - to make it worthwhile.

Oh, and the idea of sitting in a metal tube with a mask on for 9 hours doesn't appeal either!

Fridgeandkitchen · 23/10/2020 12:48

We wanted to go next year too but won’t for 3 or 4 years now.

We used to go the October holidays.
Fabulous weather , my dd got married in 90 degree heat and less chance of rain and Halloween is wonderful over there.
