Tempted for next Spring or October half term- IF -things are near normal.
Will be taking older teens.
Starting with a blank canvas, other than wanting to see Petra.
Thanks

We went in October half term. Flew in and out of Aqaba with Easyjet. We had a few days on the beach scuba diving etc and then went to Wadi Rum and Petra (using local taxis). Had a wonderful trip. I think the highlight was staying in Aicha memories 'tents' in Wadi Rum and the star walk through the desert. Such a great holiday with something for everyone. One thing is the sun is down by 5pm so although the weather in the day is lovely and warm (26-28 degrees) so just something to be aware of.

Loved Jordan! Definitely Petra and wadi rum desert! Aqaba was beautiful too. I also did mount nebo and the river Jordan. I did not get to all I wanted of Petra as they had very bad flooding when I was there but that is a 1 in 200 year event so you should be fine Smile

Thanks! Sounds promising.
I'm vegetarian, do you think I will find stuff to eat?
I'm longing to plan a break but I suppose it's not worth it yet.

We went Oct half term in 2015 and DC (10, 8 and 5 at the time) all still say it was their favourite ever family holiday. We stayed in a lovely Airbnb in Amman and visited Jerash, then Petra, Kerak Castle, Aqaba, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea. Felt completely safe, met some wonderful people, ate amazing food and just had the most memorable time. We found it easy to get around, arranging transport locally. Weather was perfect too, apart from a torrential downpour the night we arrived in Wadi Musa (for Petra). I don't think you'll have a problem finding vegetarian food; would recommend Hashem in Amman for falafel, hummus and mint tea!

Loved Jordan. We did an organised tour starting in Amman, Jerash, the desert castles, Mount Nebo, Madaba, little Petra, Petra, Wadi Rum and back to Amman. It was fantastic, such an interesting country.

Went to Petra and Aqaba. It was beautiful not denying it but when people realised we were in a Jewish touring group sometimes they'd through rocks at us.

harpischord I am also veggie and had no issues in Jordan. Cannot remember What I had but would remember if it was a problem if you see what I mean. Funnily enoughI have been to several countries and the place I had the most issues eating veggie was mid west USA. I loved it but man they love their meat there it was really hard to find a salad or something!

We planned a whole trip and had to cancel because of Covid. 😢 We were going to fly in and out of Aqaba and do a few days each in Wadi Rum, Petra, and the Dead Sea. Was gutted to miss it, especially Wadi Rum as the place we’d booked looked amazing (Aicha Memories camp). Would love to reschedule for Feb 2021.

Smashing country. As one guide said : We are a friendly country with noisy neighbours.! Adored Petra.
