Eurostar - wait to see if train is cancelled?

We’ve booked with eurostar for August. We don’t want to travel this year as some of our party are shielding. Eurostar are currently pushing for you to accept vouchers but if they cancel your train then you are entitled to a refund.

At the moment they are offering vouchers if you are travelling up to 1st August and would like to postpone your travel. We are due to travel 4th August.

Do you think they will be offering this voucher scheme for the whole of 2020?

I’d prefer a refund and so was going to wait until 24/48 hrs before we’re due to travel (that’s when they’ve been cancelling trains) and claim a refund if our train is cancelled or claim vouchers if not.

I’m worried that if I wait until the last minute, they may actually pull the voucher scheme if travel is opening up more, and I’ll end up with nothing!

Is anyone else in the same boat and if yes, what are you planning to do?

Why would they cancel? They’ve never stopped running

They’ve only got one or two trains running a day so lots have been cancelled.

Ah ok - they were very breezy about taking bookings on a full timetable last week (for early July)
