How long are people's passports taking to come through at the moment?

We are thinking of going away at the beginning of November. My seven month old needs one and me and ds1 need one renewing.

Thing is, ds1's (9) name is different and we haven't got round to changing it and can't get an appointment for two weeks.

This would leave us less than four weeks to apply and I'm wondering whether to leave his name for the time being if it means we can't go.

Try the Check and Send service at the passport office.

I just phoned there and it said it would be £1.50 a minute for all information.

I used the Check and Send and it took about a fortnight, but they do say it can take longer and make no guarantees - I guess they'd have to, though.

4 working days - yes was absolutely amazed, used check and send a week last thursday and it arrived back at my house the following wednesday.

Really? Wow, that was fast. I don't think mine will be that quick with a hotchpotch of name changes, a marriage and a new baby but here's hoping.

They just arrived!

Sent them Friday in the end after going back and forth with things being wrong, so only a week. They've got weird angel wings over the faces now, makes us look a bit odd.

Thanks for the tip.
