Travel Insurance for a holiday April 2021

As I sit at home in lockdown I’ve found a great deal on a holiday for next April (2021).
My travel insurance doesn’t cover me for cancellation due to Covid but does for everything else.
Would you go ahead and book it or not risk it?

Where is it to and what company is it with ? I wouldn't worry overly about the insurance- ours allegedly covers it, but I'll be lucky to get a penny out of them with their excesses and sneaky wording - really only useful for medical help.

It’s to Japan with Trailfinders.

I'd check if they have any reviews on trust pilot particularly with how they are handling existing cancellations, if that's ok then up to you if it's enough of a bargain to be worth a punt.

Thanks rookiemere

Im guessi g that nealry all if not all travel insurance will excludes covid cancellations.
I've got an annual policy due for renewal in May and they've emailed to say my renewal wont cover covid cancellations but it will cover hospital/medical treatment if required.

Trailfinders are one of few travel agents who hold the money (in trust I think) for the exact holiday the individual has booked, rather than using the cash received to pay off what’s due next. If I was to book through an agent trailfinders would definitely be top of my list for security of my money.

Can you afford to lose the money ?

I really dont think anyone should be booking and paying for foreign travel for the next 12 months. this might seem extreme but we all know that there are going to be second (third and fourth maybe?) waves of infection and travel insurance means stuff all if you are in lockdown somewhere. Look at the news this morning - people stuck in India since 23rd march and cant get flights home, transport to the airport etc.

How much is the deposit? I’d risk it.

Applejuiceorwee1 · 26/04/2020 09:52

Deposit is £700 and the rest of the payment due in January so I’m going to pay the deposit and see what happens. Thanks for your responses.

Can you double check if they are ATOL protected? They should be. I’ve never booked with Trailfinders they always look so expensive. I would book as long as it’s ATOL protected.
