easyJet rebook?

eyeblob · 23/03/2020 22:18

Flights booked for may half term. Obviously Europe and UK is.on.lockdown so.unlikely to be able to travel. EasyJet have emailed saying we can change dates to up to next Feb for free if we do by by 24/3. We want to go in summer as a ski resort in winter and we wanted lakes and walks.
Do you think we will get refund from Easy jet if we don't change dates and leave as May? Insurance I'm.pretty sure cover pandemic if who said you can't travel but May a long way off!
Will just write off the money if we have to but would.prefer a refund obviously.
Thank you

Mine were cancelled on 16th (due to fly next sunday) and they are making it really difficult to get a refund. I found a form on Saturday but cant find it now.

Ellmau · 24/03/2020 00:32

Maybe worth moving to September?

ssiml · 24/03/2020 00:35

I'm still holding out for my flight to be cancelled

ssiml · 24/03/2020 00:36

I'm not confident that we'll want to, or be able to travel even by February

eyeblob · 24/03/2020 06:12

Thank you for replies. August I'm looking after a friends cat if she can get away -althoigh this is unlikely as her family was going to Italy. September kids will be back at school (in theory!) And by October the area we were going will be gearing up for the ski season. We can of course change flights to anywhere but not sure where you could or would want to go with how things are now.
Shouldn't you just get an automatic refund if they cancel you @ssiml ?
I'm also not convinced will be able to travel by next Feb either. I know it's not important now but do feel very sad about it and the inevitable price increase that will happen to holidays as travel and accommodation providers will fold due to financial pressures. This virus will change how we all live, work and travel for years to come.,

My London flight was officially cancelled last night and I laughed at the wording of the email deliberately avoiding offering a refund.
Have not figured out how I’ll get it yet but I can’t rebook don’t know when we are going to go again.

bruffin · 24/03/2020 06:45

They are not offering refunds, making it very difficult to get one.
The refund button was there last week,I half went through the process just hesitated as I actually booked through Expedia who would not talk to me until 7 days before ,on Saturday the refund button had disappeared. On Twitter they were linking to a request form but even that has gone and now talking about vouchers. I also can't talk to Expedia until 3 days before.

eyeblob · 24/03/2020 07:33

If they are not providing the service then you should get your money back surely @LooksBetterWithAFilter and @bruffin ?

If you paid by credit card you should get back. I didn't unfortunately but I'm.joping holiday insurance will cover if Easy jet won't refund.

I paid with debit card if I don’t hear soon I’ll get into my insurance so hopefully I’ll get it back. My theatre tickets will be refunded as the show was cancelled, my sister got a refund on the hotel it’s just sleezy jet trying to get o if paying up

ssiml · 26/03/2020 00:10

yeah they seem to really be avoiding refunds. I paid by credit card for mine. Do I just call my credit card provider?

I also booked airport parking through holiday extras and they are offering me a voucher but I just don't know when I'd get to use now

bruffin · 26/03/2020 06:27

Yes we paid by credit card. I also booked it through Expedia with the hotel which is closed but told me I had to cancel or I might get added feesHmm . They are saying they will contact me after Sunday. Our Cc provider was next on the list of people to contact.

eyeblob · 26/03/2020 06:45

Yes call them.if you don't have and joy with easy jet or insurance. I haven't got a cc or would have paid on it as you do get protection on purchases.
Will just wait and see I guess .

I’m also trying to get a refund from EasyJet.

2 return tickets to Turkey in May. Have been offered alternatives but want a refund!

I couldn’t find any refund option on the website, and had to check with moneysavingexpert to see if I was entitled.

How do we go about it?

TooGood2BeTrue · 26/03/2020 07:09

I have the same issue but with Eurostar, who are offering me an evoucher that will only be valid until December 2020. Pretty sure they are required by law to pay customers cash compensation if that's what the customers want, but I can't find any information about it online.

bruffin · 26/03/2020 10:35

dd been on erasmus and had to change her eurostar back from Belgium, she moved it from saturday to tuesday fare went up from £50 to £170 and she couldnt use the credit of the £50 against it.

LIZS · 26/03/2020 10:38

Still nothing re. Flight on Sunday . We have not moved the booking yet and as far we know the flight is still running. Any ideas?

eyeblob · 26/03/2020 11:07

Ridiculous situation, it's not necessary travel so surely all flights unless rescue should be grounded!

OP posts:
LIZS · 26/03/2020 16:25

Finally they have cancelled the flight, but still only offering option to transfer Hmm
