Quick Poll: Is it worth £200 to take a 3 year old along to New York?

I'm thinking of tagging along with Dh business trip.

He's going for a week - we can obv go for as long or short as we like. Tickets about £200 each. Shall I take 3.5y.o. Dd for fun, company and culture - or should I leave her with my mum?

I thought it'd be a no brainer... but I think I'd enjoy her company during the week while Dh was working - and I'm sure she'd have fun/.

Financial situation currently tight - but feeling reckless seeing as we won't have to pay for hotels etc.

I love NYC, my brother lives there so I have a great excuse for going. Its great and exciting for adults because of the night life, restaurants, theatre etc but I think there's plenty there for kids too. Parks and gardens, Disney store etc - just expect it to cost- everything is soooo cheap and cool for the kids you will want to BUY EVERYTHING!!! Take a virtually empty case!

Yes - take your DD - she'll love it. We were there exactly a year ago with our children (DS had his 3rd birthday there and DD was 8 months at the time).

There's Central Park with the zoo, the Natural History Museum which is great, Statten Island Ferry is free and we went up the top of the Rockefeller Center instead of the Empire State Building.

Even just walking around, or getting into a yellow cab is such an experience for a little kid.

Must admit, we didn't really do shopping, just the Disney Store on 5th Avenue and Toys R Us at Times Square (an experience in itself as it has a ferris wheel inside and a lifesized T-Rex!).

Go for it and enjoy!
