What is Dubai like for a holiday?

Like the idea of mixing city and the beach or amybe just the beach resort.

Don't mind abuot culture to much but I don't know a lot about Dubai but its warm and affordable when we want to go!!

Is mabs out there? I too would like to know the answer to what Dubai is like for a holiday.

We went at Easter, and stayed with friends who live out there.

We had a great time, but also spent a lot of time generally mooching (the fabric souk is phenomenal!), and hired an abraa for our personal use for a tour of the creek.

There were a couple of times we went to one of the hotel complexes to have a nose, and it felt a bit like "Disneyland does Dubai" ... I can see the attraction of them when the weather gets really hot though, as they'er all air-conditioned.

We also went to Ski Dubai - just to say we'd been ... very surreal!

A real must-do is a desert safari - we hired a car just for us, and had a fantastic time!

We will go back, but I don't think I'd like to stay in one of the resort complexes ... too organised and artificial for me, but if you like a resort-type holiday, I can imagine it'd be superb!
