Has anyone stayed in any of these hotels in Las Vegas????

Harrahs
Luxor
Paris las vegas

????

and if so- any advice /info?

Off there next april to celebrate my 30th and Dp's best mates 40th so ideally want a good hotel- these seem to have the best rates

trip advisor has mixed reviews on all of them

We stayed in the luxor about 5 years ago. It was OK, but didn't have an especially great atmosphere. Seemed a bit like a normal exec hotel, only inside a pyramid, if you see what I mean. also a bit further down the strip. LV has a monorail, but had to take a walkway over to the mandalay bay to get to it.
If I ever went again would rather be somewhere more central like Bellagio's or Caesar's Palace. MGM and Paris are in quite good positions I think.

we stayed at Bally's & it was great. V big rooms & bathroom -cheaper I think because no theme as such. Right next door to Paris & Bellagio.

We were in Las Vegas 2 years ago. There are a few new and very smart and swanky hotels. One of these is the Venetian where we stayed - it was hilarious and luxurious and fantastic in a warped Las Vegas way. Its whole ground floor was a recreateion of Venice with canals between the shops and a fake sky with moving clouds. There were also something like 11 pools.

The ones you listed are, if I recall, a tier below - they are big and fun and reasonably luxurious but a bit older and it shows. You MUST go for a themed one as that is what Las Vegas is all about. From what I recall of the ones on your list, Luxor or Paris were the most themed and OTT. I would go for one of them.

I've stayed at the Luxor. Probably wouldn't again. For one thing, it's a bit far down the strip and for another, it's like being a mummy, buried in a pyramid (Virtually no natural light, claustrophobic but in the way all Vegas hotels are, I guess). I thought some of the ones further down the strip away from town had more atmosphere (what's the one with the hot house, aquarium?). Paris is more central and Vegas-kitschy, I would go with that of the two.

Wen stayed in MGM as part of our RTW trip in 2002 with DS nearly 7 years

We liked it

Our friend was staying in Ballys but we didn't go there she came to us iyswim

They have real lions encloseure which I am not too sure about

Just over a walkway from NEWYORK NEWYORK & Excaliber The castle one

They are all at end of strip btrw

Mmm- Paris is very reasonably priced.

How much spending money (realistically for 5 days?)

is it cheap? ( could not believe how cheap Orlando was this year)

is it FUN?

To be toally honest I think 5 days in Las Vegas is too long unless you are into gambling. We went for 48 hours and I was really pleased to have seen it but I felt I had done enough by then.

Food and drink can be got cheap as the casinos are desperate for your business so lure you in with offers. Otherwise it is a city based on getting people to waste money - gambling and shopping, that is all there is to do.

We saw one of the Cirque De Soleil (sp?) shows which was brilliant (you must book a show).

We stayed at the Luxor on our honeymoon it was fine - nice outdoor pool area. It was at the end of the strip but next to good hotels so you didn't feel out of it. Vegas itself was great - would love to go back and we were there for 7 nights! (2004). We had a drink in Ceaser's and across the road is the Paris - I thought the legs of the Eiffel tower in the Casino was classic Vegas kitch. Actually said I would go back and stay in the Paris as it had a real good vibe and atmosphere which we didn't feel when we visited the other hotels. They can be souless as they're so large. We blew our budget on a helicopter trip to the canyon where the chopper landed down inside it. It left vegas at 3pm ish so it was dark when we got back and we got a nightime fight all down the strip - it was awesome. It wasn't too expensive during teh day but I suggest you look and see what big names ar playing when you're there and pre-book tickets - Elton John was playing a season when we wer there and Rod Stewart played the MGM - I had no idea about all the shows - loads of musicals too - we saw Mama mia - and Circue Du Solieu (sp?) are in residence too. I obviously gat stopp gushing about the place! The Wynn Hotel was only foundations too and I believe that is spectacular as well. You'll love it I'm sure.

3 days tops. Any more and you'll go insane. You can go on a day trip to the grand canyon too.

I stayed at the Mirage 4 years ago and it was great.

Was in LV at Easter and stayed at the MGM Signature. Nice hotel for families but it is a total non gaming and non smoking facility so this may not be what you are looking for.

Ballys and Harrahs are some of the older hotels on the Strip. Both are looking a bit tired so would not recommend either of these.

Luxor is situated south of the main Las Vegas Blvd area; its a bit of a hike to the other hotels even though there is a monorail.

I've stayed in the MGM; its VERY busy there especially on the weekends when seemingly everyone is checking in or out at the same time. It can also take a very long time to walk to your room from the lobby area. Emerald Tower rooms are better. They can sometimes good deals on a suite if you look at their hotel website, if budget allows look at those. There are many nice restaurants in there; bring lots of money though.

LV is not as cheap as it used to be, would take half the clothes and twice the money!!!.

I haven't stayed at any of yours but, if I had to chose from them, I would probably go for Paris. Bally's is next door and they are more or less in the middles of the strip so location-wise are great. I think Harrah's might be near there too but iirc it was a bit of a zoo.

We stayed at Caesar's Palace - if you can get a good deal, I would go there, The Bellagio or The Venetian.

Sorry haven't tried any of the hotels you mentioned, but stayed at the Excalibur just over 3 years ago which was fine.

Trip Advisor is great but I find you always get such a mix of reviews for every hotel - someone always hates it.

Have stayed at MGM twice. It's fab, would definately recommend it. It's in a great location and also is a stop for the monorail which goes along the strip.
