abroad in oct-where shall i go? want somewhere sunny and warm

Crete is usually warm at the start of October, don't know about the end - plus tour operators may stop going by then.

canaries are always a fairly safe bet

Egypt (Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada, El Gouna. Taba?) or maybe Eilat. Slightly further afield: Dubai, Oman etc.
