Advice for DS currently on gap year travels

DS and two friends are currently travelling in Australia. They were due to leave for Singapore next week, and travelling on from there to Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Sri Lanka.

As of yesterday, Vietnam has suspended entry visas for UK nationals - DS already has an e-visa but his friends only applied on Sunday and it looks very much as if the embassy has stopped processing applications. As well as this, the strict measures that the Vietnamese gov are taking to control the spread of Covid 19 ( quite rightly) is making them reconsider.

They have a pre paid round the world ticket from STA which has a multiflex pass built in, meaning they can change the dates of flights but not routes. They also have travel insurance which includes cover against a wide range of eventualities but doesn’t mention visas being withdrawn.

Does anyone have any idea if they will be able to get refunds on their flights to Vietnam either through insurance or through STA?
