Hiring car in Spain and need car seat - any recommendations??

Going to Malaga in December for 10 days and had booked the car and rear-facing seat (our DD will be 6mths when we're there). The broker contacted us this week to inform us that they were no longer using the hire company as there had been so many complaints about the car seats that had been hired out with the cars (Europe Gold(?) car hire).

DH doesn't want to risk putting our car seat in the hold, so taking the one from home isn't an option.

Anyone been to Spain this summer and had a good experience with car hire?

I used Europabefore and car seats were fine

We usually put ours in the hold, they go on as outsize baggage and I understand this means they get special treatment, you could always phone the airline and check how the seat would be treated?

Should add, I know you said your DH didn't want it going in the hold but perhaps if he was reassured it would be treated with care then he might change his mind?
