EasyJet or Ryanair?

Hello, we‘re due to travel to Germany later this week but are expecting our current flight time to get cancelled. In order to get there around the same day we’re thinking of booking either EasyJet or Ryanair flights as a back up. It’s a long story but costs are not important for this. Which airline would you use? We are travelling with two children and four suitcases plus hand luggage. Tia.

I use both relatively frequently and much prefer EasyJet - always seems more roomy and slightly less of a "production line"

Both of them will attempt to get as much money as possible from you for hand luggage. As long as you comply with what they state in their t&cs you'll be fine.

Worth noting that EasyJet handbaggage rules do not allow a handbag in addition to the carry-on. They don't always enforce this but if it is a busy flight they may well insist that your handbag goes inside your carry on.

If you are travelling with 4 suitcases then I guess your handbaggage will be relatively small.

Does the decision not to some extent depend on the airports involved, or are you in the lucky situation of Ryanair, Easyjet and the airline who may cancel all operating between the same airport pair?

SiennaSienna · 08/03/2020 15:41

Thanks both, that’s good to know. The airports are all doable for our destination. One is 1.5h, one is 1h, one is 45mins away so we honestly don’t mind.

I also use both regularly and would definitely pick Easyjet if have the choice

CoconutQueen · 08/03/2020 15:50

Definitely Easyjet. Ryanair are horrendous in every way possible.

Never Ryanair

GinisLife · 08/03/2020 15:58

Never Ryanair. I won't give that man my money. He hates the customers that pay his salary

Haven’t used Ryanair in a while but they were fine. No difference in queues or massive walk to the departure gate. The only thing is that you spend every moment after booking the ticket, petrified that you have something wrong that you will pay elevenbillity pounds for.
You do get more of feeling with Easyjet that they are interested in staying in business rather than taking merely your money ( which they are very happy to do at every turn).

Easy jet. When flights were cancelled we were treated fairly and got the compensation Ryanair often refuse to pay.
