Cannot be bothered with airports for a week-end break sounds awlful i know but I'm fed up with all the security and if it going to be delayed it happens to us.
plus we have the horrible m6 drive to get to grandparents to drop kids off .

I know i sound miserable and ungrateful but just want a nice hotel nearby with lovely room and dinner b&b and pool and beauty treatments perhaps. A week-end without kids and hubby all to myself sounds bliss . any suggestions please nearly booked DE Vere mottrom hall but reviews have put me off we had a deal for £420.00 Just want where ever we go to be nice with bath with taps in middle any suggestions please most appreciated.

York is beautiful and a pleasure to mooch around. I haven't stayed there (I live too close ) but this one is very central and grand

This in York

Or this?

thanks flifthyminded vixon and ruby
no we went for the marriot hotel in york. I we managed to get a little discount which is fab!!! decided not to go for deals with meal etc.... as we want to be central ish to york and make the most of having no kids and wander off to see the sights and have uninterrupted cappucino's to my hearts content. plus with the money we saved i am booking beauty treatments at spa whilst d/h watches sky sports each to their own.

so as you live near any reccommendations for restaurants? because we don't have to worry about babysitters as they are at their Grandparents yes......... how will i last to october

DH says Great John Street hotel in Manchester which is a lovely boutique hotel (he has stayed recently) and it overlooks Granada Studios which is a plus point if you happen to be a corrie fan.

The Radisson
The Aurora (dh's colleague has raved about this apparently)
The Hilton

Carden Arms Park in Chester, The Lowry in Salford or the Malmaison in Manchester.

we stayed at the balmoral in harrogate in august,
recently glammed up as boutique hotel
can mooch round shops and then they can book you into this private spa up the road then dinner at the hotel bar/bistro which is the local "hot spot" - very glam
