Anyone else booked Thailand for Easter?
AngelsWithSilverWings · 06/03/2020 18:26
Wasn't sure if I should post this in the Coronavirus topic or not but as I'm asking specifically about Thailand I decided to put it here.
We are booked for a two week trip In the Easter holidays and I'm starting to worry that The Thai authorities may expect us to quarantine for 14 days if the number of Coronavirus cases gets to the same level as Italy.
If I've read it correctly it seems that at the moment if you are travelling to Thailand from Germany or Italy you have to stay in your hotel for the quarantine period.
Obviously we'd just not go if they decided to include UK travellers in that rule but I assume we then wouldn't be covered by insurance unless the FCO ban travel.
Is anyone else booked and are you worrying like me.

I’m not in your situation but I live in BKK.
At the moment, if you arrive at BKK from one of the high risk countries (China, HK, Iran, Italy, Korea, Macau) then you are supposed to self quarantine for two weeks. In reality what is happening is that if you arrive without symptoms from one of those countries, you have to fill in a form and queue in a long line and then you’re free to enter.
But they could decide to actually enforce the rule at any time. Or change the rules. They changed the rules at least once this week.

Thank you so much for replying. It's interesting to know what's happening in reality. I'll be keeping a close eye on any rule changes then.

We are in exactly the same position, also concerned about the prospect of being stuck in hotel room. Would be much better all round if they would just closed boarders to UK like Vietnam have done. At the moment we aren’t entitled to a refund as FOC haven’t advised against travel there. I have asked travel bag and Emirates if I can postpone though and they are looking into it and getting back to me. I hope you get sorted, try speaking to the travel company to see if you can change dates etc...

@claire1976130612 well we've had an update today.
Eva air have cancelled our flights.
Because we booked a package holiday the travel agents are allowed to transfer us to another airline as long as it's within 12 hours of our original flight time and on the same seat grade and for the same price as our original flight. We were flying premium economy.
Of course with everything going on at the moment there are now no other flights with capacity for us in premium economy so they have had to cancel our holiday completely.
Rather relieved to be honest.
Hang on in there and keep checking your flight status. Hope you get something sorted soon.

@AngelsWithSilverWings great news!! I bet you’re relieved! Wish we could just get a refund. Travel bag are allowing us to postpone up-to 11 months in advance so hopefully get it moved out to next year some time this week 👍

We've got a choice of date change through provider or refund through travel insurance. Luckily my cheap rolling policy looks to be coming through for us. Such a relief.
Couldn't even have imagined this scenario when we booked last summer!

Trailfinders cancelled our holiday last week, we were due to travel at the end of April. We will go for a full refund and book something at a much later date
