Could anybody recommend a Greek Island for OH and myself. In mid 50's so quiet, nice hotel, possibly all inclusive.
Possibility of doing two islands, but am not sure which ones!!

Completely disagree on Lefkada or Lefkas as it's also know. Avoid the main holiday bit, nidri, but the rest is beautiful. We hired a jeep and stayed in the mountains.

I didn't like create, we stayed in the northern too commercial and too big. We had a day in the south of the island which seemed much nicer.

Yeah Lefkada was nice! We had fun touring around in our jeep. Not as touristy as others but we were there off season. I loved Santorini but was there before the airport. Was busy enough back then. Black sand though which is very hot undeneath your toes!

I loved Kefalonia, not too busy in Sept the year we went, lovely beaches and there were lots of interesting day trips available

There is something special to me about Corfu,it's the place that always draws me back ( eight times).
Small enough to do the north of the island one day and parts of the south the next if you hire a car.
The east of the island is sandy, windy and wavey, the north has mountains and the east pebbly beaches with tavernas dotted along.
Very green and covered in olive trees.
Corfu town is venetian with cobbled streets.
Ahh,i miss it!

Another vote for Northern Corfu. Just lovely. Didn’t like Skiathos but liked Crete (Chania area). Santorini is expensive, particularly if you want to stay in the nicer areas such as Fira. Ditto Kefalonia - we went to Foskardo for the day which was really beautiful but eye wateringly expensive to stay there. Parga is nice and you can explore the Epirus region and get across to Paxos and Antipaxos on a boat. We went to Zakinthos about 20 years ago and it was great but I think it’s a bit too brash now especially around the Laganas end. We enjoyed Lefkada and stayed in Nidri (controversial) ... it has a nice feel and it’s good if you don’t have a car. I love Greece and I wish I was going this year.

I have always wanted to go to Greece but every time I start looking I get confused and a bit overwhelmed.

It depends what else you want to do there? Sunbake on the beach, visit museums, hire a car and explore or just stay in the all exclusive ALL day???

We enjoyed Rethymon in Crete. Easy to walk around the town, great tavernas, friendly people and a beach. You can get a fast ferry to Santorini and do a day trip there. I think the ferry departs on the other side of the island though. We visited late in the season, and they only had the overnight ferry operating, so we didnt go. We did got a coach to Heraklion and saw Knossos and the museum which was interesting.

I want a bit of everything. A bit of relaxing and a bit of exploring/ hiking. Most of all I want an island which isn’t too busy. I want the beach all to myself Grin

It's not easy to get Santorini scenery anywhere else! But my favourite was Naxos - gorgeous beaches and a bit quieter because you can't fly there direct.
