what age do you think is the best age to take kids to Disneyland Paris?

We went when we were 4 & 7 and then 7&10. I was the older one and remember loads from both trips. Not sure how much my sister remembers from the trip at 4. I remember it being absolutely magical and can't wait to take my DS. I'd probably wait til he was about 6 at the earliest. You need to think about heights for rides etc

It’s free until they are three.
So we went just before 3rd birthday, 4 now and still remembers and talks about it alongside older sister

We went for the first time when my dds were 11 and 14. Tbh this was a great age to go, as we pretty much wanted to do the same things, they were old enough to appreciate it, had lots of stamina, so didn’t get tired and wingey. They could also go off and do things while we waited in queues to see characters etc. Also we had Halloween party tickets, which went to until 2am, and we managed to stay until the end having also done a whole day in the park.

In all honesty, unless I was planning to go multiple times, I wouldn’t take a kid under about 6 or 7. I saw so many overwhelmed crying tots, it just didn’t look much fun!

@Catapillarsruletheworld it was actually Halloween time that we were looking at going. My kids have been watching videos on YouTube of Disneyland at Halloween and they love it. They love spooky stuff Hmm but they would only be 3 & 4 years

I took my son at two and 8 months, he absolutely loved it and still tells me about it a year later.

We did stay in a Disney hotel (Davey Crockett ranch) so I really do recommend doing that, spending a couple of days rather than one, taking advantage of the magic hour and leaving for a break around lunchtime then going back for the late afternoon/ evening bits.

Anytime under 12. Personally I think it’s only really for young kids - there’s no rides my 12 year old couldn’t go on - that’s not to say they wouldn’t enjoy the shows though

LoisLittsLover · 03/03/2020 17:50

Dd was just 4 and was great, managed queueing etc without trouble. Taking a buggy helped, even though she hasn't used one at home for years

Floralnomad · 03/03/2020 17:52

Our eldest was 18 months when we first went and my youngest has been going since she was a small baby - she’s 21 this year and we are going for a short break just after her birthday so I’d say any age is fine .

AndWhat · 03/03/2020 17:53

Ds1 went at 15mth, 2.5yr and 6
Ds2 went at 18mth

We love the winter and Halloween seasons and go every few years so I say any age!

@nonamemummy

Your 3 and 4 year old would still enjoy the Halloween theme, the decorations, shows and parades are wonderful, so well done. Then actual Halloween party would probably be a bit lost on them though. It doesn’t start until 8pm and some parts, the pirates of the Caribbean ship wreck for example are actually quite frightening. It’s great fun, but not really aimed at tiny kids.

If my kids were that young I’d try to go when it wasn’t half term. The Halloween theme is there from the end of September, but half term is one of the busiest times of year, it was packed. I think with little kids you’d have a better time if there were fewer queues.

We stayed in one of the Disney partner hotels as it was much cheaper, but if I had small kids I think it would be much better to stay on site and use the extra magic time to get lots done without the crowds. Extra magic time is lost on teens (and my friend we went with) as they’re just not awake in time!
