Cancelling Ryanair flights due to Coronavirus.

Hi everyone

In October I booked flights to Agadir for me, my DH and 3 kids. We are due to fly out in the Easter holidays but I'm not sure if we will be able to go or not due to the virus outbreak.

As far as I know, there haven't been any cases in Morocco but I suffer from health anxiety so I would rather go when things are settled down. I don't want to put my family at risk of infection and the last thing we would want is to be quarantined in another country if an outbreak does occur.

I contacted Ryanair and they said if our flight is cancelled nearer the time then we would be entitled to a refund or we can rebook for another time. However they can't do anything if I just refuse to travel.

What would everyone advise me to do? Will my insurance company cover me if I do decide that I'd rather not go?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

No, I'm afraid your insurance company won't cover you for "disinclination to travel".

Unless your flights are cancelled or the FCO advises against travel to the area in question, you might just have to choose between traveling anyway or losing the money. Sorry.Sad

Thanks for your reply. That's just confirmed what I was thinking.

I stand to lose £800 if we choose not to travel. Luckily, I booked the hotels separately which can be cancelled free of charge at the last minute.

Even though Morocco has not had any cases, I am just scared of the risk of infection at an airport and the last thing I would want is to be quarantined while in a foreign country.

Yeah, don't blame you. I'm not particularly anxious about these things usually, but I don't think I'd fancy traveling right now. I think the virus itself will rife over here soon as well, but if I have to self isolate, I'd prefer to do it at home!

but more people are currently dying from flu arent they? You could just as easily pick that up at an airport, or some other bug. whilst you wouldnt have to self isolate if you did you still wouldnt be able to go out. Or good poisoning, especially in some countries.

I would literally wait until the week before to decide. It might not be in that country at all. I would still go if possible
