Coronavirus Travelling Worries

So I am due to go to Tenerife on Saturday with my husband and some friends. I am also fourteen weeks pregnant and honestly I am thinking of just cancelling. I think my husband will still go. I am just so worried because there is definitely Coronavirus on the island and as it's so small it's not exactly a stretch to say it could reach other parts quite easily.
My friends (and even to an extent my husband) think I am completely over-reacting but my instinct is telling me not to go.
Is anyone else in a similar position who would make the same decision or do you think I'm being silly?

Where in Tenerife are you going?

BritWifeinUSA · 26/02/2020 19:20

You are more likely to be killed in a car crash on your way to the airport. Seriously, the chance of you getting this virus is not huge if you go to Tenerife. You are obviously not going to the same hotel. The people that have died have been mostly elderly people and those with long-term health issues. Such people also die from the flu each year. Would you cancel a holiday to Tenerife because someone, somewhere on the island had the flu?

The disease is also in U.K.
Unless we are told not to travel to Tenerife, I'd certainly go.

It is not that small a place! If you are willing to let your dh go then you could equally get it from him later.

Contact public health England for advice, this isn't the flu and shouldn't be treated as if it is the flu

It’s not such a small island? It depends on where you’re going. Obviously there’s a small risk but there’s also that risk in the uk.

Hannahmay191 · 26/02/2020 22:43

I would be staying about 2 kilometres from where it is so big risk. It's so annoying because if I wasn't pregnant I wouldn't think twice but I think I'm just on high alert which I guess is natural in pregnancy.

If you won’t enjoy it while you’re there, then don’t go. It isn’t a holiday if you spend the whole time stressing.

Check FCO travel advice for Spain, this is constantly reviewed and updated. But if you're feeling nervous, will you be able to relax? (ie, the point of your holiday?)
