Interesting destinations that are good to visit in March/April

We've just worked out that we have three more years of 2 week Easter breaks in which to take holidays before they get taken up by GCSE shenanigans. Am I right to assume that by year 10 a 2 week Easter holiday won't really work?

We are lucky enough to be able to take a once-a-year long haul trip to interesting places and I want to make sure we've visited the spots that are best at Easter before we have to go in the summer instead.

So far, I've thought of:
Japan/Korea
Australia ( my best friend is in WA)
Costa Rica ( I have no idea, just sounds lovely)
Vietnam
Malaysia
Southern US

Where else should we have on our list? I already seem to have twice as many destinations as holidays left!

Galapagos
Florida Keys

I think it depends on the school, we've planned ours out for the next few years, based on school exams - our children are currently year 4, year 7 (at prep), year 9. DS apparently doesn't do mocks until October half term year 11, so we're going to the Galapagos in the Easter of Year 10.

I fancy getting off the beaten track in Florida. The national parks are supposed to be lovely. I also quite fancy Georgia and the Carolina's. We made it to Virginia last Easter and loved it!

2 weeks for Aus isn’t probably long enough! Costa Rica is lovely but actually would be cheaper in summer (it’s the rainy season then. We went in August 4 years ago and it’s greener, cheaper and typically you have one thunderstorm in the afternoon or evening that lasts about an hour!). We went to Sri Lanka last Easter - very beautiful country, lots of wildlife, good food & great people!

Thank you. That's really helpful advice about Costa Rica. I'll save that for the summer then! I know that 2 weeks isn't long for Australia, even just WA and my son really struggles with jet lag, which will be an issue too. I just really want to visit my friend. We'd probably keep it simple and visit her in Perth and then do Margaret river, with a stop in Singapore on the way home. I'm worried about it being cold and miserable in August, unless we get up further north.

FWIW I went skiing every Easter holiday in school and uni and did fine, I took my work with me and would revise. In my final year of uni I went to the Florida Keys at Easter and was rereading my set texts by the pool and on the flight! Not for everyone and I was very keen and self motivated but it doesn't have to be a holiday free time.

Cape Town / South Africa might be worth considering - we went there one March and saw penguins on the beach, wine route, big 5, Table Mountain etc.

Costa Rica is amazing - we did in August and we found it fine then, you do get rain late afternoon, rest is sunny and about 27C and good to see rainforest with rain.

Australia we also did in summer and was fine for us but we wanted wildlife in Queensland and Great Barrier Reef, if you are after sunbathing on the beach not the time to go.

We're doing Malaysia and Borneo this summer, summer doesn't seem to be an issue there, coronavirus permitting.

Caribbean is better at Easter as not hurricane season but wouldn't be top of my list with kids.

Jordan, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Laos & Cambodia?

Our family used to do big Easter holidays up until the DC were about 14. We enjoyed twin centre holidays in St Lucia, Cuba, Egypt, as well as a twin centre holiday to Brazil and Argentina.
We also did a few feb half term holidays (the Friday before was always insert day) to Cape Town, LA , Dubai and Dominican Republic.
We were lucky with the weather on all those holidays.
