Looking for some info on the best place to stay on Koh Samoi, we are going in August if travel there is still permitted.
Our three grown up children early twenties will be with us.
I keep looking at villas but they seem to be high up in the hills. We really like to be able to walk out in the evenings and not rely on taxis
What area is lively but not too lively?
I have been looking at Bophut because of fisherman's village- seems to be a lot of restaurants which is ideal.
Grateful for any steers !!

We stayed near Chaweng. Some fantastic restaurants (some not so much) and many bars. Easy taxi ride to Bophut.

Bophut is very lively. Great market.

Stayed at Anantara Bophut...with our 3 teenagers July 2015 , super hotel- amazing breakfasts! - so good we returned 2 years later (when we also spent a week at Anantara Rasananda on Koh Phangan )
2 min walk to Fisherman's village so perfect for eating out in evenings
Koh Samui has a fantastic little airport too!

Thankyou I think we have found a great resort to stay in just a bit sad fir my son 22 who will be in a room by himself- We usually rent villas but they are high up in the hills and are generally more expensive-I think that's me projecting though he'll probably be delighted
