Virgin / Air NZ - in-flight temperature?

This sounds ridiculous I know, but I am very sensitive to temperature fluctuations and am usually constantly freezing. We are flying to Auckland soon with Virgin transitting through San Fran then onwards to Auckland via Air NZ. The first leg is a day flight departing at 10.45 and the second is a night flight arriving into Akl early in the morning.

I'm getting anxious about the in flight temperature and what to wear/take. I've done the UK to NZ flight a number of times, usually via Emirates and find their cabin temperature quite comfortable but I've never flown Virgin/Air NZ before so not sure if they like to pump up the air con or not. Does anyone know?

Extremes of temperature/feeling too cold for me spark migraines which I can usefully do without on a long haul flight!

Anyone done this flight recently and can advise? Thanks

It generally depends on where you sit. I was on an Air NZ flight a couple of weeks ago, in a bulkhead seat. It was pretty cold during the flight and was glad I had a cardigan and socks. I even went and found a blanket - only a 4 hour one so short haul, but I needed it!

Further down the plane though it was noticeably warmer.

The San Francisco flight is usually an overnight, and they tend to crank up the heat on night flights to encourage sleep.

Just take layers, and know you can get extra blankets from the crew if you need them.

Thanks. Our seats aren't bulk head so fingers crossed

We flew with Virgin to Las Vegas and back last week. Going out was really warm but coming home was quite chilly. Coming back was the night flight so I think it’s just the luck of the draw?
