We will be spending a weekend in Paris later this month with our 6 year old. Has anyone got any suggestions about what sites we should see, hotels / area's to stay etc ?

PopsP, put Paris in the Mumsnet search, as we have discussed Paris a few times, and I wrote some bits about when we took out 6 yr old last year, he loved it, we had a great time.

2 nights, went up Sacre Couer first, so saw all of Paris stretched out in front of him and across to the eiffel tower, walked to big Dept store, Galerie Lafayette, big toy dept, and rows of playstation games to play on, loos on that floor and an inside McDonalds, so that balanced the sightseeing stuff for the day!!

Up the Eiffel Tower the next morning, get there early, back down and onto a boat trip, took about an hour, see lots of things, english tour guide, see Notre Dame etc.

Up To Arc de Triomphe and walked all the way down Champs Elysses, big park at bottom and fountain.

Gave up on tubes, as the buses were so easy and you get to see so much more.

Under the Louvre (museum with glass pyramid outside) is a shopping centre and food emporium, loads of different types, which is great for a fussy eater, nice creperie there.

Final day we went to Notre Dame, he was now quite knackered from the days befores walking! Then onto Pompidou, wouldnt bother with that again, and then home!!

So much to do, there are some good Paris guide books for going with children, ours was Paris With Kids, published by Fodor's. Had lots of interesting facts for children in it, which our son liked, and on each 'place' it tells you where nearest child friendly eateries are etc.

Hope you have a nice time, sorry this is really rushed need to get out of the house!!!
