Ideas for October half term

We’ve never been on a half term holiday in October and concerned that a lot of resorts may be closing by then. We’d like to find somewhere with plenty going on and lots of other families, for a week, with a flight of less than 2.5 hours. We’d consider a city break rather than a beach resort but would prefer to travel towards the southern half of Europe in the hope of milder weather. Any suggestions please?

We went to Cyprus and there was still a lot going on in the towns but the resort was def on the quieter side, it may have been the location though.

We went sightseeing 5 out of the 7 days but it meant driving a decent amount.

How about Sicily, lots of culture and should be on the stable side weather wise. Friends went to Rome and while a bit cloudy it was still warm enough for T-Shirts.

Sheraton La Caleta has heated pools and kids club running year round.

Any of the Canary Islands

Southern Spain or the Canaries are your best bet!

A lot of resorts will be getting quiet at the end of October. The Canaries are warm though and are year-round destinations. There will be lots of British families there in Oct half term. Paphos in Cyprus is also still warm and sunny at that time of year - we've been twice and while it's not busy things are still open.

Malaga or surrounding resorts, we have been to Benalmadena for the last couple of years in October and weather has always been good with maybe a odd day of rain. Lots to do for families and some really lovely restaurants.
