Go Ape (Grizedale forest and other locations) is FANTASTIC ...

... if you con your db into taking your ds1

I can't do heights at all, and ds1 was very keen to do Go Ape this year as he was just old enough now; but U18s have to be accompanied by an adult.

Db took ds1 yesterday and it was seriously exciting. Dh watched for some of it, but I find it too scary even to watch that sort of thing!

When they came back db said to me: "You owe me ... big time!"

DS1 absolutely adored it, and was delighted with himself that he'd tackled all the challenges even the 'extreme' ones, and not backed down.

I agree! Dsd did it with dh, a friend and friend's mum for her 10th birthday and thought it was great. She'd been itching to go for a couple of years.

Me? I took dd for a walk in her buggy, seh fell asleep, so I sat and read the paper, then went and had hot chocolate and cake in the cafe.

marthamoo did it with her DS1 recently, roisin - I mean she actually went up there herself [impressed]

I know! I've just been looking at some of the pictures on the website, and adding them to ds1's descriptions, and been absolutely terrified myself.

My brother used to do a lot of rock-climbing, but hasn't done for years, and he was seriously impressed by it!

I think ds2 is secretly relieved that he is too young and too small to do it yet

But ds1 has been getting very adventurous recently: I love rollercoasters and some big rides, but he went on a ride at Lightwater Valley that I wouldn't dare go on. He loved it so much he went on it five times.
