Thessaloniki - solo?

I've got a flight booked for the end of March, my friend has unfortunately had to pull out due to an impending operation. I've looked at changing the flights until later in the year but that will cost more than the flights Angry So, I either lose the tickets (only €50 but still..) or go alone.

I'm quite happy to slum it in an Airbnb for four nights (I'll be on a budget); I love walking and exploring and I can speak the language but not sure how safe it is? TripAdvisor forums assure me it's OK and to take the usual precautions but I don't want to go and find out it's risky for a single female traveller. I'll be confident during the day, it's just the evenings I'm concerned about.

I went to Thessaloniki alone for a couple of nights in 2018, when I was 21. I enjoyed it and never felt unsafe.

You can do a free walking tour that points out most of the main sites. Depends what you like. I loved seeing the old churches, visiting the history and art museums, the white tower, the old city walls up the hill, walking along the sea front and eating lots of Greek food
