August is winter in South Africa and it’s rainy season in the Western Cape, bring UK autumn clothes,
I wear jeans, boots a long sleeve top and a light weight puffer. Bring a water/wind proof jacket the wind in Cape Town is harsh.

We were in Amakhala last August, safari at Hlosi. Fantastic trip but early morning and late afternoon was cold, lowest temp 2 degrees so pack layers and don’t forget scarves and gloves if you’re going on game drives.

We have done safaris in August in SA and it’s very cold in the mornings in open vehicles. Take fleeces and grab blankets from your room if you are cold. Gloves and hats are a must and preferably a wind proof jacket. As if warms up, it’s lovely.
