Greek island recommendations?

Hello

We are looking for a 7-10 day holiday on a Greek Island, sometime between June-mid July.

We would like somewhere pretty, nice beach and to be able to relax.

We'd like a hotel on the beach and have a budget of £2000 for both of us including flights.

Any recommendations for islands and hotels would be amazing. We aren't fussed about a fancy hotel, just somewhere clean and a nice pool.

Thank you x

Crete....you can fly to Chania or Heraklion. Stay in Rethyminon it's fabulous wonderful huge long Sandy beach. Lots to do and see great public transport. It's got everything you need

Naxos for its beaches. Amazing long stretches of perfect sand. And a lovely old town. Villa Marandi is a lovely place to stay, and the old town is fab.

Paxos for great food (not always the case in Greece)being able to hire a boat and find tiny inlets which you'll have all to yourself and for being generally a bit more upmarket if that's what you're after. We've only ever self catered there so can't recommend hotels, but Lakka and Loggos are the main tourist villages, and Gaios is the main (small) town. Loggos is impossibly cute.

I went to Santorini in the 80s when there was hardly any tourism and the airport was a military base. It was wonderful, probably the most beautiful place I've ever been, but think I'd hate it now it's heaving with tourists.

Agree re Naxos except you can't fly direct.

Geoffreythecat · 08/02/2020 00:15

True, but it's a lovely ferry journey Smile

Totally agree and I consider the ferry as part of the holiday but if the OP is only going for a week...
