Shorthaul cheap as chips relaxing bargain break for two

We have the chance of a 2-4 night break away without the DC or the dog in either April or end of June. Interested in something as cheap as chips that won’t break the bank as we have just booked a main holiday and haven’t budgeted at all for this but would really like to go.
Suggestions of place and accommodation welcome. We would be flying from up north so Edinburgh, Glasgow or Newcastle or would we be better staying in the UK and not wasting time traveling or where could we go or where is the best place to look for ideas and inspiration? Thanks

Barcelona would be lovely that time of year but you'd need to check out pricing.

Fly to Bilbao and travel up to San Sebastian/Donostia (or one of the gorgeous beachy villages?) We did that last year - cheap flights, air bnb, spectacularly good inexpensive food. Glass of wine for €1!! (but small measure). We had a couple of days in Bilbao and a few days in Hondarribia.

Malaga. Wonderful city. History, beach, fab food and drink, scenic walks up to a historic fort and other sites overlooking the city, Picasso museum amongst other things. Waterfront bars and restaurants. Airport close to city so no long taxi ride.

I would go on skyscanner and Select “everywhere” for destination. It will show you low to high prices for flights. Then book a cheap air bnb. There is no point in us suggesting places randomly without knowing what flight prices are like.

If you can get cheap flights Budapest is pretty cheap once you're there and loads of things to do, but if it's only 2 nights you might be better having a luxury break in the UK

Budapest Krakow or San Sebastián all sound fab just had a quick look on Skyscanner choosing anywhere and searching for these flights from northern airports and can’t find anything as cheap as chips yet unfortunately.

with the exchange rate with the euro I think very few places will be as 'cheap as chips'. Eastern Europe is a good shout though, Budapest especially which is lovely. Prague is very expensive and far too touristy IMO. Krakow in Poland is great too and was not too touristy when I was last there (but that was 15 or so years ago!).

We are going to Wroclaws in Poland in February from Newcastle and the flights were only about £50 each return.

I am flying to Copenhagen in April from Glasgow and the flight is £45. Last year I went to Palma from Glasgow and that was around £70.

We fly to Gdansk in Poland
Amazingly cheap flights and accommodation and food and drink is very cheap too we absolutely loved it
